This is not my usual media tip or recommendation. It's about gratitude.
This morning started out like most others, but when I opened my email, I got a wonderful surprise. A friend from long ago had reached out and contacted me through my website. He is retiring from Corporate America this week after a long successful career and he wrote that he was thinking about me, his first supervisor, when he was a green new hire.
He thanked me for helping him learn the ropes in those early days and said part of the reason his corporate life had been good was because of me. Wow.
I expect most of us don't think much about the impact we may have beyond our families on colleagues, friends and acquaintances, but it's there for better or worse.
In this season of thanksgiving, why not reach out to someone you've lost touch with and thank them for the positive effect they've had on your life.
I can tell you from experience, it is an amazing gift.
